SANTA BARBARA The Santa Barbara Sea Glass & Ocean Arts Festival’s 2019 event held in mid-September successfully raised $3,000 for the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, the festival announced Tuesday.
“This is what the Santa Barbara Sea Glass & Ocean Arts Festival is all about,” said Marcia McNally, Sea Glass & Ocean Arts Festival Co-Chair. “We are thrilled to contribute to the Maritime Museum’s passionate work to preserve and celebrate Santa Barbara’s coastal legacy.”
The Santa Barbara Sea Glass & Ocean Arts Festival is the only event of its kind in Southern California. Held on Sept. 14 and 15 at the Earl Warren Showgrounds, the 2019 festival brought thousands of locals and visitors together to celebrate the ocean through handmade art, jewelry and education. Event highlights included presentations by Maritime Museum Director Greg Gorga on the Point Conception Lighthouse the Honda Naval Disaster.
The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum provides hands-on learning opportunities that explore the rich history of the Santa Barbara Harbor and the Santa Barbara Channel. Through thoughtful and engaging exhibits, as well as fascinating films, lectures and panel discussions, the museum preserves maritime history and fosters connections to the natural world.
