Senator Hannah Beth-Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) honored 805HELP as Senate District 19’s nonprofit of the year on Wednesday, Jackson’s office announced in a news release.
805HELP is an online platform that allows individuals to support survivors of recent disasters with donations, pro-bono services and “volunteerism.” 805Help also was able to use “creative solutions” to help the survivors of the Montecito Mudflow, such as getting 64 pilots to fly 117 doctors, nurses and patients while Highway 101 was closed.
“As our community continues to rebuild from the devastating Thomas Fire and other local disasters, 805HELP has proven to be an effective tool to connect our most vulnerable survivors with the resources they need to recover. It is an honor to recognize 805HELP and their extraordinary work to engage the community in disaster relief efforts,” Sen. Jackson said in the news release.
