Born February 29, 1916 in Chicago, IL to parents who immigrated from Italy. He was raised & attended schools in Chicago. Ralph was a recruit with one of the 1st groups of the Conservation Corps in the Northwest. He later enlisted in the Army, serving over 20yrs & retiring as a Major. During his time in the military, he fought in WWII & was also a key member of the Counter Intelligence Force.
Ralph met & married Marion May; eventually settling in Santa Barbara, CA with their daughters. He was a longtime presence in the Italian Boot Club, as well as the Lion’s Club & had a legion of friends in the community.
He lived and traveled all over the world, spoke several different languages and had a multitude of friends worldwide.
He wore a variety of professional hats, most enjoyably those as Educational Advisor & Management Consultant. Working with the students always seemed to keep him youthful and sharp. He had a great sense of humor with a twinkle in his eye and a trick up his sleeve. He could fool the best. He loved opera and enjoyed music especially all the Italian singers from his youth. He also enjoyed walks on the beach and local roads and was a fabulous cook!
Ralph lived a big life w/experiences too numerous to detail. It would’ve made for a great book! Dad we will miss you.
A graveside gathering for friends and family will be held on Monday, May 20th, at 11:00 AM at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Ballard, CA. Arrangements made by Loper Funeral Chapel.
