Passed peacefully on January 29, 2013 following a short illness. Born in Strasburg, North Dakota, Ed lived in Santa Barbara for the past 58 years. Ed was an active member in the community through his involvement in the Milpas Merchants Association, the Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge, as a Scout Master and in various bowling leagues.
He retired after 45 years as a Barber (Scott’s Barber Shop on Milpas Street) and was an avid antique collector which he proudly displayed in his shop. Ed loved his family deeply, trusted in God and his country and served during the Korean War. He was a very kind and generous man who was loved and respected – we will miss him with all our hearts.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife Joyce (Mendez) Bachmeier (2003) and is survived by his four children and son-in-law, Lori and Brad Clements, Mary Bahnken, Sara Bachmeier and Ken Bachmeier; his sisters Cecelia Logan and Alvina Nagel (both reside in North Dakota), three grandchildren, Mike Epley, Kirsten Bachmeier and A.J. Bahnken and two great grandchildren, Bryan and Isla Epley. All reside in Santa Barbara.
The family is very grateful for the loving care our Dad received during his stay at Casa San Miguel by Katerina Zamyatina and her staff and for the assistance provided by the Neptune Society of Santa Barbara.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 21 E. Sola Street, Santa Barbara at 10:00am on Friday, March 1st followed by a reception (location to be advised).
