Lee was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital on June 16, 1953, to Priscilla and George Schragl. She passed away February 28, 2013, in Placerville, CA after an extended illness.
Lee grew up in Mission Canyon and was a true mountain girl. She attended local schools. Lee moved to Santa Ynez in 1986. She worked in the dairy business for many years both at Golden Coast Dairy in Goleta and as Branch Manager for
Santee Dairy.
Lee always wanted to live in the Sierra Nevada. That dream came true when she moved to her mountain-top home in Greenville, CA in 2001. She loved her pets and enjoyed long hikes in the mountains with her dogs.
Lee leaves behind her devoted son Brett Davis (Patty), grandson Ricky, sister Susanne Schragl French (Don) of Santa Ynez, husband Mike Badertscher of Fresno and life-long friends Cecilia and Herman Brown of Greenville, cousins Polly Welcheck and Ward Lindenmayer. She was predeceased by her parents.
Lee’s family would like to thank the wonderful staffs at Western Slope Health Center and Snowline Hospice who were so instrumental in making Lee comfortable in her final days and providing exceptional care.
A memorial service is planned for later this year. Lee’s wishes to be cremated and her ashes spread over the Sierra Nevada and Pacific Ocean will be granted.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society in her name.
