Sylvia Yvonne Bainer, born at Packard Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania on September 12, 1931, passed away peacefully at age 86 at home on August 29, 2018 under the care of her son and Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara. Sylvia will be forever remembered by her son Michael Bainer, grandchildren Jessica Larsen and Cody Bainer, and great grandchild Kali Larsen. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Henry Raymond Bainer and her beloved children Desiree Jo Bainer and Mistie Noelle Bainer. Sylvia’s brother, Jack Strange of Athens, Pennsylvania, is her only surviving sibling.
Sylvia took great pride in her service to our country throughout her involvement in the U.S. Navy from 1952 through 1954. While in the Navy she was in charge of civilian payroll in Norfolk, Virginia.
Sylvia married Henry in 1954 and they moved to Long Beach in 1958 where Henry served his last four years of service in the Navy. Upon his discharge, Sylvia, Henry, and their family moved to Goleta. There they managed the Rancho Mobile Homes from 1962 until 1998. Sylvia and her husband to Solvang in 1998 to a home they purchased in the 1980’s.
Sylvia enjoyed her time with her garden and the family’s horses.
Sylvia’s family request that donations in her honor be made to Visiting Nurses and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara County.
