Our precious mom and grandma has left us for her next great adventure…….
Lois Elizabeth Martin was born August 9, 1913 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and passed away March 8, 2013, with family members at her side at Solvang Friendship House. She was born to Mabel Reid Martin and Eugene E. Martin, and had one sister Avis Martin Shrader also deceased.
In 1936 Lois married her high school sweetheart James Begg (Jim) who passed away in 1977. She is survived by their 3 children ; Dorothy Turk (Alton) of Etna, CA; Jane Begg (Steve Michel) of Goleta and James M. (Marty) Begg (Gail) of B.C. Canada; grandchildren; Deborah Hughes (Vince); Janet Petersen (Rob); Brenda Hunter; Suzanne Turk; Carrie Kitley Jackson (Rick); Rob Kitley; Jolene Begg; Erinn Begg; and 12 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Lois’ main focus always was family first. She was a ready mentor to teach, baby sit and care give to each generation and she was precious and beloved by all her family and all who knew her. A sweet and loving person by nature she was always fun to be with, with a sense of humor that ran much to the mischievous side at age 99, as it was in her earlier years. We know mom/grandma is dancing in heaven back in the arms of her only sweetheart, Jim at long last. A person that inspired us all and one for all to aspire to.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday 4/6/2013 at 12:30 p.m. at the Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church Center, 1825 Alamo Pintado Rd. @ Baseline Rd. in Ballard.
