The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History is presenting two events for the public this week.
“Science Pub: You Don’t Know What You’re Missing The Case of Inattentional Blindness” will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Dargan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant, 18 E. Ortega St. Dr. Mary MacLean, a junior fellow from the Psychological & Brain Sciences department at UCSB, will discuss the nature of visual awareness; specifically, how attention is the key to awareness, and without it, one can miss what is right in front of his or her face. The event is free.
“Darwin Trivia Takeover” will take place from 7 to
9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Night Lizard Brewing Co., 607 State St. Participants can test their Darwin knowledge at the celebration of his 110th birthday with all Darwin-related questions. Winners are eligible for cash, beer and special prizes. The price at the door is $5 per player, and there is a limit of six people per team who must be 21 or older to participate. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the museum’s Education Department.
