SANTA BARBARA COUNTY The U.S. Census Bureau is continuing to send participation invitations through the mail for the 2020 Census as it continues to monitor the coronavirus pandemic.
Recipients are encouraged to respond online as soon as they receive the invitation, which includes instructions on the web address for the online questionnaire in English and 12 additional languages. The invitation also includes phone numbers for the various languages and telephone assistance is available seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. EDT, according to officials.
All households that have not responded online or by phone will receive a paper questionnaire between April 8 and 16. Follow-up operations for certain communities will begin as early as April 9 and across the country on May 13. Online and phone response is available through July 31.
Officials are prepared to adapt operations if any delays were to occur in order to get an accurate count.
“We designed our 2020 operations precisely so we could offer multiple ways to respond,” officials said. “In so doing, we are able to make necessary adaptations at the local level for special operations as well.”
