GOLETA Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital is offering a free child car seat safety class from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 12, the hospital announced Monday.
The goal of the class is to teach parents and those who drive children, such as family members or baby sitters, to install child passenger seats correctly. Eighty percent of child seats are installed incorrectly, according to a news release.
Children younger than 2 years old are supposed to be rear facing unless they are 40 inches tall or weigh more than 40 pounds. Children younger than 8 should be in a booster seat or a car seat, according to the news release.
Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital is at 351 Patterson St.
