
San Marcos dropped only one set in doubles and won three sets in singles on their way to a first-round playoff victory Wednesday afternoon, besting Oak Park, 11-7.
Samantha Forster and Bella Munoz, the top doubles tandem in the Channel League, led the way for San Marcos with a sweep. Emily Rapp and Jesi Rabinowitz also swept, while Bali Lavine and Sherryl Vargas won two of their three matches. Fiona Kinsella capped off the victory with a pair of clutch wins in singles play.
Wednesday’s victory marks the first time that San Marcos has made it out of the first round in the playoffs in the past four years. The Royals will travel and take on Corona Del Mar at 2 p.m. Friday.
WEBB 11, LAGUNA BLANCA 7
The Owls got off to a fast start in their first-round playoff matchup against Webb Wednesday afternoon, but the Guals pulled away in the final two rounds to secure the victory.
Katherine Monroy went 3-0 in singles play and Madeleine Nicks went 2-1. The Owls No. 1 doubles team of Lucy Cao and Phoebe Stein won their first-round match 6-1, though Laguna’s doubles went winless in the second round. Ava Rice and Elizabeth Bisno finished strong with a 6-3 win in doubles play.
Laguna Blanca finishes its season 13-2 overall.
