There will be plenty of CIF girls tennis action in town on Wednesday afternoon, with Santa Barbara, Dos Pueblos, Laguna Blanca and Cate all hosting first-round matches.
In the Div. 2 bracket, the Dons will welcome Simi Valley to town after winning the Channel League at 15-6 overall. Simi Valley is 13-5.
The Chargers, who finished in a tie for second in league, will face Foothill Tech.
In Div. 1 action, Cate (10-0) will put its perfect season on the line when it hosts Calabasas, who is 9-3. Meanwhile, San Marcos will hit the road for a match at Oak Park. Both teams finished second in their respective leagues, with the Royals sporting an 8-5 record while Oak Park is 12-5.
In Div. 4, Laguna Blanca (13-1) will host the winner of the Wild Card matchup between South Hills and Webb.
Carpinteria earned a spot in the Div. 3 Wild Card round and will travel to Oxford Academy today.
Also in Wild Card action, Providence will host Channel Islands in Div. 5 today.
All first-round tennis matches will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
In other CIF announcements on Monday morning, the 8-man Cate football team will host Calvary Chapel of Downey on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Both teams are at-large selections in the Div. 1 playoffs.
