Pico Iyer will take travelers around the world to “The Places We Seldom See” at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Mary Craig Auditorium, 1130 State St. The Armchair Travel Lecture will cover some of the areas the part-time Santa Barbara author has visited, from Iran to North Korea, Cuba to Tibet. Mr. Iyer, who also lives in Nara, Japan, will release his newest book, “A Beginner’s Guide to Japan: Observations and Provocations” (Alfred A. Knopf, $24.95), on Sept. 5.
