CARPINTERIA Several ramp closures are scheduled this week as work continues on the Linden and Casitas Pass Highway 101 project.
From 9 a.m. Jan. 27 to 3 p.m. Jan. 31, the northbound 101 onramp at Linden Avenue will be closed as needed as crews work on the new sound wall. The southbound 101 offramp at Linden Avenue remains closed, according to Caltrans officials.
Crews have opened Via Real between Casitas Pass and Vallecito roads. Ogan Road is closed between Linden Avenue and Pacific Village Drive to allow crews to build the new roundabout and roadway improvements. A local street detour is available on State Route 192. Pedestrians can use the sidewalk detour on Pacific Village Drive during the closure.
Crews are continuing to trench in preparation for irrigation lines by the 101 ramps at Casitas Pass Road, officials said.
Construction for the Highway 101: Carpinteria project will begin in April. Preconstruction activities are underway, including vegetation clearing. Night work is planned this week, with alternating lane closures between Bailard Avenue and the northern city limits near the salt marsh.
Northbound 101 will be closed from 9 p.m. Jan. 26 to 5 a.m. Jan. 27, as well as 8 p.m. Jan. 27 through 7 a.m. Jan. 30. Southbound 101 will be closed from 9 p.m. Jan. 26 to 7 a.m. Jan. 27, as well as 8 p.m. Jan. 27 through 7 a.m. Jan. 30. One lane will remain open in each direction, officials said.
The project will include: new northbound and southbound 101 peak-period carpool lanes within the city of Carpinteria; new bridges over Franklin and Santa Monica creeks; new on and offramps at Santa Monica Road, Carpinteria Avenue, and Reynolds Avenue; six new sound walls; and intersection improvements at Santa Monica Road and Via Real, Reynolds and Carpinteria avenues, and Bailard Avenue and the highway ramps.For more information, visit www.sbroads.com.
