The Mission Street road repair project will enter its final phase this weekend, with pavement work scheduled through Wednesday.
Between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday through Wednesday, Mission Street will receive a total grind and overlay of new pavement from the Highway 101 overpass to State Street. The work will provide a new driving surface and smooth out existing dips on the roadway, according to city officials.
Mission Street and all cross streets between Castillo and State streets will experience temporary closures during construction hours. Not all cross streets will be closed at the same time, as the work will be phased to manage detoured traffic and local access for residents and businesses. Drivers are advised to choose an alternative route and avoid the Mission Street corridor, officials said.
Traffic signal conduit installation is underway and is expected to be completed prior to the pavement work. The roadway will be striped after the pavement is completed. For more information on the project, visit www.santabarbaraca.gov/missionstreetpaving.
