SANTA BARBARA The Community Environmental Council has a goal to increase electric vehicle ownership with the launch of “Electric Drive 805,” a coalition of local government agencies and nonprofits that will pursue local efforts to increase access to affordable electric vehicles. According to a press release, the coalition aims to increase electric vehicle ownership by promoting the installation of charging stations and raising awareness about the financial benefits of electric cars, which can be achieved through rebates from the California Clean Vehicle Rebate Project, the state’s Clean Vehicle Assistance Program, and Pacific Gas & Electric.
The other organizations of Electric Drive 805 include Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition, the Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance, and the Air Pollution Control Districts of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.
