SANTA MARIA A Santa Maria man was arrested Monday night and is accused of breaking two large televisions at Costco, at 1700 S. Bradley Road, in Santa Maria, police said.
Around 6 p.m. Feb. 17, police were dispatched to the store on conflicting reports of shots fired inside the business and a subject vandalizing televisions. The first officer arrived on scene and a suspect matching the description provided by witnesses ran out of the business and into the parking lot. The officer ordered the suspect, 25-year-old Jose De Leon Dominguez, to stop, however he continued to flee, according to a department news release.
Mr. Dominguez resisted the officer’s efforts to arrest him. A few bystanders helped the officer restrain Mr. Dominguez near the intersection of Meehan and Bradley roads until additional officers arrived.
It was determined Mr. Dominguez pushed the TVs to the floor. This caused the TVs to break and produced the sound that prompted the reports of shots fired. The total damage to the TVs exceeded $3,000, police said.
Mr. Dominguez was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and resisting arrest.
