Santa Barbara County got a wide array of boys soccer teams into the CIF-Southern Section playoffs, and are spread out all over the place.
All seven divisions have at least one team from the county, it was revealed with the release of the winter playoff brackets on Saturday by the CIF-SS office, with nine teams in total in the playoffs.
Leading the way on the pitch is Channel League champion Santa Barbara (16-5), which opens its Division 1 playoff action on Thursday with a home game against Bay League No. 3 entry Palos Verdes (9-9-3).
Channel runner-up San Marcos (14-5-6) also landed a home game on Thursday, hosting Royal (14-12) in a Division 2 matchup; Dos Pueblos (14-9-2) landed an at-large bid and opens play Thursday on the road at Foothill League co-champion Hart (13-6-5) in Division 3.
Two county teams square off on Tuesday in a Division 4 wild-card matchup, with Citrus Coast entrant Carpinteria (10-5-3) hosting Channel entrant Santa Ynez (7-14-2). The winner travels to face Foothill co-champ Valencia-Valencia (9-1-8) on Thursday.
Condor League champ Dunn (12-4) opens Division 5 play at home Thursday against Camino Real runner-up St. Genevieve (12-6), while Frontier champ Bishop Diego (11-3) opens Division 7 play on Thursady against the winner of Tuesday’s winner between Yeshiva Liberty and Whittier Christian.
Division 6 features a pair of wild-card entries on Tuesday, with Cate (6-7-2) traveling to Mission Valley runner-up Marhsall (15-4-1), and Laguna Blanca (4-7-2) hosting Viewpoint (7-6-5).
Santa Barbara (8-11-3) kicks off the postseason with a Division 4 wild-card matchup on Monday, hosting Viewpoint (5-7-4) at 5:20 p.m. at San Marcos’ Warkentin Stadium. The winner hits the road Wednesday to face top-seeded Cerritos (16-2-4).
Channel champion Dos Pueblos (12-5-6) opens at home Wednesday in Division 3 against Flintridge-Sacred Heart of Mary (7-4-3), the Mission League runner-up.
Channel No. 3 Lompoc (11-4-3) is also in Division 4 with Santa Barbara, and hits the road Wednesday for a matchup with Beverly Hills (13-4-2).
Frontier runner-up Laguna Blanca (4-5-3) hits the road on Wednesday in a Division 6 match at Jurupa Valley (11-8-3), while two teams are in the same half of the Division 7 bracket, as Frontier champ Cate (7-2-3) hosts Pilibos (5-6-1), and Condor League champion Dunn (9-4) hosts St. Bonaventure (6-11-1), with a possible quarterfinal matchup looming.
GIRLS WATER POLO
San Marcos and Dos Pueblos both found spots in the eight-team, double-elimination Division 1 bracket.
Channel champion Dos Pueblos (21-8) will host Corona del Mar (17-7) on Thursday, while runner-up San Marcos (17-10) hits the road to face Crestview champion Foothill-Santa Ana (20-6).
Santa Barbara also hits the road, opening Division 2 play on Wednesday at Baseline champion Los Osos (13-13), while Santa Ynez (14-7) travesl to Citrus Coast co-champ Santa Paula (14-9) in Division 6 on Wednesday.
Citrus Coast co-champ Carpinteria (10-5) opens Division 7 play Wednesday by hosting the winner of Monday’s wild-card matchup between Pioneer and Sierra Vista.
