SANTA BARBARA The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department has announced that Dr. Henning Ansorg will be the next county health officer.
Dr. Ansorg was officially appointed during Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. He has served as a physician with the Santa Barbara County Health Care Centers since 2016 and most recently worked as the tuberculosis clinician for south Santa Barbara County as well as the deputy health officer, Jackie Ruiz, spokeswoman for the county Public Health Department, said in a news release.
Dr. Ansorg received his medical degree from Giessen University in Giessen, Germany, and his doctorate from Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. He worked in Germany for 10 years and achieved foreign medical education accreditation and completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Arizona. Following his residency, Dr. Ansorg spent 11 years practicing medicine in Sedona, Arizona.
