“Johnny D” made his final trip home on Friday, May 17th, 2013. John was born in Cairo, Egypt on April 8, 1950. His parents, now deceased, were Mildred and Kenneth Davenport of Littleton, Colorado. He is survived by his sister, Pamela Nelson of Lakewood, Colorado, and brother Gary Davenport of Louisville, Kentucky, as well as many nephews and nieces.
John lived with his family for many years in Paris, France where he attended The American School in Paris. After returning to the States, John obtained His Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Menlo College in Menlo Park, California. He has lived and worked for many years at the beautiful Rancho Tajiguas in Goleta. John, better known as “Uncle Johnny”, was a Francophile, a connaisseur of fine dining, a skier and a bridge player extra-ordinaire. His loss is very deeply felt by so many of us who were blessed to have known him, loved him, and enjoyed his unique wit and story-telling.
There will never be another quite like our beloved Johnny D.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Santa Barbara Homeless Shelters or the Santa Barbara Animal Shelter in honor of his beloved Java & Mia.
