High school seniors in the South Coast have until Nov. 15 to apply for art and honors scholarships offered by the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara.
Honors scholarships are limited to students who excel academically, while art scholarships are awarded to students who excel in the traditional fine arts, according to Tim Dougherty, director of marketing and communications for the foundation.
During its recent awards cycle, the foundation awarded 20 honor scholarships out of 149 applications. A total of 24 students out an applicant pool of 79 received art scholarships for the current academic year. A select number of this year’s applicants will be invited to exhibit their work during a competition in January, Mr. Dougherty said.
“These scholarship programs invariably attract students of exceptional talent and accomplishment, which makes for an invigorating selection process.” Victoria Juarez, foundation president and CEO, said in a statement. “We look forward to evaluating this year’s art and honors applicant pools.”
