Your district elections have been decided for you? You are being told how you’ll vote. It is best you comply. Your instructions were issued early. Confused? This is what you didn’t know has been happening: The local Democratic Central Committee (DCC) announced the city’s future on June 12, at 5:36 p.m. in the not-very-Independent. As per party chair Gail Teton-Landis, “picking candidates early provides a jump-start over potential foes.” Foes? Since when are other Dems, or any other candidates, “foes”? Is this the reason Jason Dominguez is treated with such contempt for “failing” to toe the party line? The application process opens July 15. There are still a few days for contenders to get their paperwork started. The deadline to file is in August. The DCC neither knew who would put their hand up to run, nor do they care. It’s over before it began. Your selections have been made. Now get in line behind the Stepford wives, and remember to smile. To run for office, free thinkers need apply. Contact Sarah Gorman at City Hall or call 805-564-5310. July 15 is the opening day for applications.
