Playing in windy conditions at the par-36 Alisal River Course, the Santa Barbara High girls golf team remained unbeaten on the season with a 235-257 victory over Santa Ynez.
The Dons’ Lizzie Goss was medalist for the sixth time this season behind a 41, while Melia Haller (43) and Allie Womack (48) broke 50 to help Santa Barbara move to 12-0 overall and 5-0 in Channel League.
“The undefeated start to the season is due to the depth of our team and hard work throughout the year on improving their game,” Santa Barbara head coach Ryan Throop said.
Santa Ynez was led by Morgan Blunt (48) and Marina Vengel (50).
Santa Barbara returns to action on Thursday against Lompoc, while the Pirates will take on San Marcos.
WOMEN’S GOLF
SBCC’s Pratima Sherpa fired a 6-over 79 to finish in a tie for third at the WSC No. 4 match at Antelope Valley Country Club in Palmdale.
The Vaqueros finished second overall, 26 shots behind Canyons.
SBCC’s Alex Bleth (81) and Paris White (85) finished fifth and seventh, respectively.
The Vaqueros return to action on Oct. 9 for WSC No. 5 at Rio Bravo CC in Bakersfield.
