Surveying the political divisions around us, the contrast has never been more stark.
The left advocates a turn toward socialism, a nanny state with free health care, free higher education, open borders and higher taxes to pay for it all. They prefer not to enforce immigration laws. Cleverly, the scandalous endorsement of infanticide was buried in a flurry of racist accusations, then allowed to disappear. Actually, the left is against supporting successful schools, which are the only way to elevate anyone to a better life.
The conservative side respects our Constitution and recognizes that the nation’s strength has come from adherence to sound laws laid down generations ago. Once upon a time, classes taught the true history of how our government was formed and operates. This experiment in democracy has survived nearly 250 years.
From the beginning, education has been important, keeping the electorate informed so the voters were wise. Our earliest text was the Bible, not only inspirational to our founders but a moral guide for all of us. How far we have fallen.
