Owner of Edwards Floor Company, and long-time Glendale business man, Richard O. Edwards, passed away on March 4th, 2013 in Santa Barbara, California. Richard lived in Glendale, California most of his life and attended Glendale schools, including Hoover High School and Glendale College. He was a long-time member of the Glendale Kiwanis Club for over 20 years and served as president for one year. He was also a member of the Elks Club.
Richard and his wife of 53 years, Christa, retired in Carpinteria, California in 2003. He enjoyed staying active by working in his garden and on his home, traveling, and playing tennis as a member of the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club. He was a proud father to Wilhelm (deceased), Michael, and Jennifer, grandfather to Maria, Elizabeth, and Sarah, and very proud great-grandfather to Marcus.
Richard is also survived by his three sisters, former Glendale residents, Betty Sams, Beverly Swaner, and Ruby Myatt. Richard will be remembered by his family and friends at a visitation this Sunday, March 10th, from 2:00 to 5:00 and a church service on Monday, March 11th, at 3:00 in the afternoon. A grave side service will be held on Monday for close family at 2:00. The visitation and services will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills.
