A recent article focused on the festive eggs and Mylar confetti used at yearly parades, etc. Do I have this correct, according to the environmentalists, that plastic bags don’t disintegrate, therefore we can no longer use them, only paper? Then, because someone diving saw a sea turtle with a plastic straw up its nose, voila, no more plastic straws.
I would like to point out that the environmental fingerprint left from parades, fairs and festivals in our city leaves tons of trash and confetti. Where is the outrage and protesting this affront to our environment? Heads up: There is none. Why doesn’t the City Council pay someone $50,000 for an environmental study on the effects of confetti on our streets, flowing into the ocean? Do as I say, not as I do.
