SANTA BARBARA A female jogger was assaulted and robbed by a male concealing his identity Wednesday night in the 3800 block of Calle Real in Santa Barbara, police said.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. The woman, whose name was withheld, was running east when the man approached her. She was able to fight off the assailant, though the suspect got away with several personal items, said Anthony Wagner, spokesman for the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Officers were in the process Thursday morning of obtaining video in the area. The investigation remains ongoing.
Police are asking for the public’s help to remain vigilant during the stay-at-home mandate, and Mr. Wagner said the department’s Patrol Division is fully staffed and engaged.
“The Santa Barbara Police Department’s enforcement posture for emergencies and violent crime remains at full force-strength,” he said. “Our Patrol Division is fully staffed and engaged in high-visibility community policing – responding quickly to emergencies. Several specialized teams are operating continuously to abate serious crime.
