On March 27, 2013, Manuela Delgado Flores passed on to our Lord. She was born to Mexican Revolutionary War refugees Lucio R. Delgado (Deceased) and Apolonia Angel (Deceased) in Hanford, California on June 17th, 1922. At her passing she was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her life commenced in the agricultural fields of the San Joaquin Valley, as the oldest child, helping her mother raise 8 younger siblings, Mercedes Delgado Mendoza, Bakersfield, CA., Ramundo Delgado, (Deceased), Amelia Herrera (Deceased), Elidia Delgado Rojas,(Deceased), Gilbert Lopez, Vista, CA., Louis Lopez, Grover Beach, CA., Esequiel (Zeke) Lopez, Bakersfield, CA., Dolores Guerra, Mesa, Ariz. and Mary Louise Ruiz, Bakersfield, CA.
With her husband of 69 years Joaquin Constantino Flores, La Quinta, CA., they had 4 children, Manuel Flores, La Quinta, CA., Jaime Flores (Deceased), Ricardo Flores, Santa Clarita, CA, and Irene Burns, Durango, Colo. At her passing she had 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
After her children, at long last she was able to continue her long sought after education, earning a nursing degree (of which she was very proud) enabling her to work for over 20 yrs. at several hospitals in Santa Barbara, CA. And finally private duty nursing, prior to her retirement.
Manuela was a very strong, respectful, private person. She is and will be greatly missed.
Services, a Rosary will be held Friday evening at 7 pm, April the 12th at Holy Cross Church. 1740 Cliff Drive, Santa Barbara, CA 93109 and a Memorial Mass on Saturday, April 13th at 11 am also at Holy Cross.
