SANTA BARBARA COUNTY The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County is one of seven Central Coast and Southern California nonprofits to receive portions of a $30,900 grant through the Bank of the Sierra’s Sierra Grant Program. According to a press release, the Foodbank will dedicate its newly received funds to Children’s Health Initiative programs that distribute nutritious food and fresh produce to low-income kids and their families and improve their overall food security. Other nonprofits that received grant money include the Abundant Blessings House of Hope, which provides a safe house for pregnant women from San Luis Oispo and Santa Barbara counties with unsafe and unstable home lives, and the Ventura College Foundation, which will use the funds to pay for the enrollment, health fees, and student center for 1,500 first-year and 200 second-year Ventura College students.
