89, from Santa Ynez passed away April 19, 2013. Born in Visalia, California, she married her high school sweetheart, Jack Foster, in 1943. They were married for 48 years until Jack passed away in 1991. She is survived by her daughter Sandy Combs and her son-law Tom Combs.
Jack and Gerry moved to Santa Maria in 1955, then again to the Santa Ynez Valley in 1958 when Jack was transferred with PG&E. Gerry worked for the Los Olivos Grammar School for more than 20 years until retiring in 1983. For many years, Gerry has suffered the debilitating effects of osteoarthritis but maintained her cheerful nature always determined to live to be 100. Her greatest joy was living in the Valley and being with her friends.
A graveside service is planned at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Ballard on Tuesday, April 23 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Arthritis Foundation.
