(96) was born in ST. Louis MO. on October 17, 1916 and died in his sleep on April 13, 2013 in Santa Barbara CA. Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Margaret Mc Kee. Ed graduated from Washington University Dental School in 1939. Ed practiced General Dentistry for a year before going into the Navy in San Diego. He served as a Lt. Commander in the Pacific aboard the Aircraft carriers Wasp and Belleau Wood and survived a kamikaze attack on his ship.
Following the war he returned to Santa Barbara and has resided here since. Another six months of specialization in Children’s Dentistry brought new skills to Santa Barbara with Ed pioneering in the field of pediatric dentistry. Ed was active in both professional and community organizations. A member and past president of the Santa Barbara Club; a member a past president of the Downtown Rotary Club, a resident and past president of the Valle Verde Residents’ Association. He served on the student aid committee of the SB Foundation and was later elected to the Foundation Board.
Ed had three great interests…golfing with his buddies @ La Cumbre Country Club; driving, any and every kind of vehicle that existed and travel of the world, especially when he was at the wheel. His sense of humor, his wit and his sharp mind will be missed by all. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 4th at 3:00 pm at the La Cumbre Country Club.
