Sometimes, life throws you a curveball — and this week has thrown our entire community off track.
Earlier this week, it was UCSB closing its campus and the school’s athletics teams going fan-less.
Today, those teams were told to pack it up for the season.
Absolutely brutal for those that have put in thousands of hours of hard work.
The same can be said for the arts & entertainment community, where we saw dozens of shows postponed or canceled on Thursday.
From gigs at the Lobero Theatre to a multitude of shows from UCSB Arts & Lectures.
All of this is pushing us to reinvent ourselves on the fly, making sure we are your resource for the latest news on the coronavirus pandemic.
Effective today, we are going to put our arts & entertainment tabloid, Scene, on temporary hiatus. Considering that most shows will not go on, we need our focus elsewhere.
Also, in the coming days, you will see some reconfiguration of the paper, as there will be less sports due to the cancellation and postponement of seasons at all levels.
What you can count on is the most in-depth and factual coverage about the outbreak, both in our backyard and around the world.
We are here to serve you, and look forward to keeping you in the know as we get through this together.
