
Marion Dolores Ghio passed away on May 6, peacefully and at home. Born Dec. 1, 19256, she attended Santa Barbara Catholic High and graduated in 1945.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frederico and Florida Ghio and her brothers, Tony, Frederico and Augustine. The Ghio Family were longtime fishermen and her father, Frederico, was involved in the rescue of seamen during the Honda Point Disaster in 1923 when 7 US destroyers ran aground at Honda Point, near today’s Vandenberg.
Marion worked for many years at Percal’s Poultry on Montecito Street. In 1962 she began working with her best friend, Tina Eller, at Eller’s Donut House on Milpas Street, Many people have fond memories of being greeted by Marion and Tina, asking “What size coffee?”.
Marion participated in both Our Lady of Sorrows Parish and the Old Mission Parish.
Services will be at Our Lady of Sorrows on Wednesday May 15 at 10 am, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery, with a reception after at 2007 Santa Barbara St.
