Alisal Guest Ranch & Resort in the Santa Ynez Valley has recently announced the opening of its new luxe guest cottage, the Turner House — and taking the reins of the project was none other than esteemed California interior designer and author Nathan Turner, who is a regular guest on “The Today Show” and whose designs and products have appeared in major publications such as Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Vogue and Town & Country.
Capturing the 10,000-acre luxury dude ranch’s rustic charm, Mr. Turner used handcrafted furniture, Western fabrics and upholsteries, and vintage furnishings in the three-bedroom, three-bathroom space, which is designed to suggest it’s been on the property since it opened in 1946.
A central living room anchors the California-Monterey-style cottage and guests can either rent the entire structure, starting at $3,500 per night, or each of the bedrooms separately. The master bedroom, Suite 68, comes with the living area and begins at $1,500 per night; the other rooms start at $1,000 per night. Rates include breakfast and dinner, as well as taxes and service charges.
Decorative touches include reclaimed barnwood paneling; a grand fireplace with a river rock facade; vanities and bar areas featuring Monterey cabinetry and iron hardware; vintage artwork and antiques curated by Mr. Turner; Ralph Lauren fabrics; and Pendleton accessories.
“Growing up on a ranch in Northern California, I was inspired by the Alisal’s dedication to authentic California ranch living. This is a special place in which friends and family come to gather and spend time together. I designed the Turner House so that you feel as though you’re stepping into your own ranch house, yet one with all of the wonderful benefits that make the Alisal so special,” Mr. Turner said in a statement.
A Malibu resident, Mr. Turner is special projects editor at Architectural Digest and author of “Nathan Turner’s I Love California,” his latest book, and “Nathan Turner’s American Style.”
Alisal guests can experience various ranch activities during their stay, including guided horseback rides along miles of trails, fly fishing on the 100-acre spring-fed lake, archery, hiking and more.
The ranch is located at 1054 Alisal Road in Solvang. For more information or to book, call 800-425-4725 or go to www.alisal.com.
