
85, of Santa Barbara, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 19, 2013. Guadalupe was born in Santa Barbara on January 1, 1928, attended local schools and was a graduate of Santa Barbara High School. He was a member of the Naval Reserves in 1951.
Guadalupe was a golf enthusiast and worked at Montecito Country Club as a golf pro instructor. He also had his own business as a candy distributor to retail stores throughout Santa Barbara. He had a passion for the sport of golf and enjoyed gardening, particularly “chopping everything in sight”. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas.
Guadalupe is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Margarita Gomez; his children, Michael Gomez (Susan), Lynda Saunders (Keith), and Marina Gomez; grandchildren, Ted and Amber Gomez, and Max Saunders; great grand-daughter, Ava; and brother Ruben Gomez, and sister, Celia.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
