Of Santa Ynez died at home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, March 23, 2013. He was born in Elmhurst, NY to Murray and Betty Greenfield, both f whom predeceased him. Martin graduated from the University of Rochester with a Ph.D. in optical engineering. He was married to Jeanne (nee Keiber) for 30 years, and they raised four beautiful children.
Marty’s studies led him to a career in the aerospace industry, working with Hughes Aircraft, Santa Barbara Remote Sensing and Raytheon as Director of Strategic Programs. He worked on the Mars Global Surveyor, Thermal Emission Spectrometer, Miniature Thermal Emission Spectrometer, Visible Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite , Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite, and the Advanced Baseline Imager, among others, earning him a consummate reputation in the industry.
Marty loved to travel. He lived in England for a year, and traveled through India, Israel, Egypt, France, Italy, Amsterdam Greece and Canada. He loved visits to National Parks such as Yosemite, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons, as well as camping with the kids and Jeanne (and sometimes grandmas!).
Martin is survived by Jeanne; sons Erik, Adam (Heather) and Matthew; daughter Morgan (Kayla); sister Linda (Ira Protas) of Florida; mother-in-law Marilyn Keiber, and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, colleagues and very good friends.
A Memorial Funeral Service will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 7th at the Loper Funeral Chapel in Ballard, CA, followed by a gathering at the Greenfield home. Please join us as we celebrate this brilliant, hard working, loving husband, father and friend.
