Seventy percent of Californians want to leave our state. This is proof positive that something has gone terribly awry, as California used to be considered the most desirable state in the country to work and live.
What happened? Traditional Republican and Democratic values were infected by woke progressives who are now yielding to socialism. The blunt political truth of our dilemma? You can’t blame a single thing that is driving people and jobs from this state on conservatives because they haven’t had any political control in this state for decades. Having said that, we ain’t seen nothing yet. The millennials are coming.
The millennials, in general, are an odd lot. This cohort has been so shielded from the truth that they have been dubbed the “post-truth” generation. They don’t like being told what to do, yet somehow they believe the problems in America can be solved by more government control of their lives. Hence, they support the socialist takeover of our country, including our health care and energy sectors.
Somehow millennials believe government can deliver free stuff, which they believe they are entitled to receive. They believe that socialism means equality. They don’t understand the difference between equality of outcomes and opportunities.
The classic example of this phenomenon? They have been dubbed the “participation trophy” generation. They all received the same trophy at the end of a season regardless of outcomes, effort or achievement. It was so bad that even keeping score was considered dangerous to their fragile egos, which had to be protected at all costs, including the cost of reality and truth.
Well, millennials are in for a rude awakening. A socialist takeover of our government will result in every aspect of their lives being dictated and controlled by powers and authorities that don’t give one wit about their wants and feelings, let alone their aptitudes and preferences. They will be treated equally, alright; everyone will get the same crummy deal as the ability to choose for themselves will be taken away.
If they had an inkling of history or even current events, none of this would come as a shock to them. But they have been shielded from the truth, having been effectively lied to their entire lives. For a wakeup call, they should visit Venezuela or China. Speaking of China, it is the most murderous regime in the history of mankind, with Russia right behind them. Tens of millions of people murdered by their own government, all in the name of progress and people power.
James Madison, one of those dead white guys the millennials so disdain, said it best: “The very definition of tyranny is when all powers are gathered under one place.” Accordingly, our founding fathers pledged their lives, fortunes and honor to secure the blessings of limited government and individual liberty. How long before “woke” millennials realize that a government that has the power to give you all you want must also have the power to take away everything you have?
