GOLETA San Marcos High School and El Camino Elementary School took emergency precautions Monday due to reports of possible gunshots.
According to emergency radio traffic the report came in at around 10:30 a.m. San Marcos went into lockdown shortly thereafter.
Sgt. Mike McCoy of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said El Camino took similar precautions. He added that the reporting party heard five to seven loud pops.
Deputies and a Sheriff’s Office helicopter searched the area behind the Vons supermarket on Turnpike Road but did not find any evidence of gunshots or any suspects.
