William J. Guyer passed away peacefully January 21, 2019, at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Santa Barbara, California.
Born in 1928 in Monroe, Michigan, to Ellsworth and Clara Ethel (Sicklesteel) Guyer. He was a graduate of Monroe High School and he was a member of the track team. He married Francella Edmondson October, 1950.
He became a dedicated servant of Jehovah God in 1951 and was a conscientious objector to military service.
He read the Bible daily and shared frequently with others the Bible’s truths. He served as an elder of Jehovah’s Witnesses for most of his adult life.
He learned his carpentry skills in his early twenties. He was a union carpenter and worked as a finish carpenter at the LaArcada complex in Santa Barbara. Sports were a lifelong passion. He loved swimming, running, fishing, boating, motorcycling, and camping. He also enjoyed gardening and travelling with his wife, family, and friends.
William had a love for California and visited the state in the late nineteen forties. He moved to Santa Barbara with
his family in 1964.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, his son Timothy, his parents, his sister Jane Funk, and his great grandson Nicholas Berry. Surviving him are his daughter Frankie Berry, grandchildren Matthew (Lori) Berry, Brooke (Jon) Lockmiller, Amber (Jason) Berry, Lauren (Ryan) Stiner, Morgan Guyer, Dylan Guyer, and Ruby Guyer and great- grandchildren Kayla, Tyler, Zachary, Joshua, Johnathan, Ivan, and Violet.
Burial has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 1 PM at the Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah’s Witnesses, 715 North Fairview, Santa Barbara, California.
