Passed away peacefully at her home in Goleta on Saturday, February 23, 2013. She was surrounded by her family.
Born December 27, 1921 in Stafford, Kansas she was the second eldest of four children. In the early thirties, her family relocated to Whittier, California where they settled in a farmhouse surrounded by orange groves. Later, she moved to Pico Rivera where she lived until she met and then married Milton Haggerty, her husband of 62 years. Together they raised not only their own two children, but also two of their three grandchildren.
Mary was known for her perseverance, creativity, and devilish wit, but most of all she will always be remembered for her dedication to family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her younger sister Pat, son Michael, daughter Patty, grand children Todd and wife Rindy, Staci, Kevin and six great grandchildren, Tyler, Justin, Zachary, Zack, Makenzie and Madison ranging in ages from 26 – 6 years old.
At Mary’s request, no services will be held. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, you may honor her with your donations to the Santa Barbara Hospice Program.
