Santa Barbarans who love to go all out when it comes to Halloween will have no problem finding costumes and other accoutrements for the holiday at the World of Magic in the former Macy’s building at the corner of State and Ortega streets.
It’s crammed with hundreds of thousands of items for men, women, children — even pets like dogs and cats, according to Gina Ho, co-owner with her husband, Caesar Ho.
‘Everything is for sale — we don’t rent — and the prices range from $4.99 on the clearance rack to $150. The average price is from $34 to $39.99,” she said.
Most popular this year are costumes from movies like “Spiderman,” “Toy Story,” “The Joker,” “Aladinn,” “The Maleficent” and “The Descendants2.”
The seasonal store opened Sept. 15 and will close Nov. 3.
“From Nov. 1 through Nov. 3, everything will be half off, and decorations are half off now,” said Ms. Ho.
She and her family live in Santa Barbara, and while the store is closed, she spends much of her time designing costumes for next season and other business pursuits.
“Of course, we dress up for Halloween,” said Ms. Ho. “What costume will I be wearing? It depends what my kids say.”
