COUNTY The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department has issued a Health Alert due to the heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service for portions of the county.
The heat advisory was issued Wednesday for interior portions of the county, mountains, the northern region and Cuyama Valley. It will remain in place until 9 p.m. tonight, according to officials.
Community members are encouraged to limit outdoor activity, drink plenty of water and wear appropriate clothing. In addition, those who work outdoors should take regular breaks and be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
People are reminded not to leave children or pets unattended in vehicles and to check in on those who may not be aware of the danger from the heat – including the elderly and young children.
