77, died peacefully July 17, 2013, at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital after a lengthy illness. Elisa was born September 5, 1935 in the pueblo of Susticacán, Zacatecas, Mexico. She was a resident of Santa Barbara for the past 29 years.
Elisa loved traveling to and from Mexico. She worked as a seamstress for many years with various companies in Los Angeles. Elisa was especially fond of gardening and was an exceptional seamstress who enjoyed sewing. She made a wonderful capirotada, Mexican pudding, and some mean enchiladas. And of course, Elisa enjoyed the music of her state of birth, Zacatecas,.. tamborazo.
Elisa is survived by her children, Esperanza Herrera, Lidia Herrera, Nicolasa Bougié (Bill), and Arturo Herrera; grandchildren, Jennifer, Adam, Analaura, Diana, Elisa, Miguel, and Sarah Nicole; and great grandchildren, Jazmine Mirella and Valentina Michayela.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and especially the Palliative Care staff, for their gentle and gracious care of our mother.
The Rosary Service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, 7:00 pm, at Holy Cross Church, 1740 Cliff Dr., and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 25, 10:00 am, also at Holy Cross Church. The interment service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Noon, at Santa Barbara Cemetery, 901 Channel Drive.
