SANTA BARBARA The League of Women Voters of Santa Barbara is hosting a free discussion this week about homelessness and housing issues.
The public forum will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Faulkner Gallery in the Santa Barbara Public Library, 40 E. Anapamu St.
“The League of Women Voters is currently updating our local homelessness policy in order to better reflect current best practices,” explained chapter publicist Jane Benefield.
The panel will update the public on the “Home for Good” coordinated entry program in Santa Barbara County, including street outreach and emergency shelter and housing. There will also be a discussion about long-term solutions and local statistics on homelessness.
Additional information will be given, she added, about this year’s “Point in Time” count of the homeless population. There are volunteer opportunities on a number of experience levels, Ms. Benefield noted.
The count will take place from 5 to 8:30 a.m. Jan. 24. Volunteer sign-ups can be found at www.commongroundSBC.org.
Spanish translation will be available at TVSB & LWVSB websites. Live streaming accessible at League of Women Voters website, at https://www.lwv.org/local-leagues/lwv-santa-barbara.
