
Passed away peacefully in her Santa Barbara home on December 17, 2013. She was 89 years old.
Florence was born in Huntington Park, California on August 28, 1924. She attended Stanford University before she was married to JohnB. Hundley Jr. on March 6, 1945.
After starting the family in New port Beach, Florence raised her four children in Whittier and Bakersfield, California. After John B. (Jack ) retired, they moved to Santa Barbara to enjoy retirement in 1985. Since then, Florence and Jack enjoyed traveling the world as well as spending time with their growing family, sailing and exploring the Santa Barbara area and beaches.
Florence based life with her family on her religion and serving others. She was a woman of strong Christian faith, attending church all of her life and contributing her time and resources to the Episcopal Church on the Altar Guild, parish based community groups, Bible study and prayer groups. She was a member of PTA groups for well over a decade. As a docent at the Sea Center and at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, she loved guiding groups of school children through exhibits. Florence would also contribute time and finances to causes like Meals on Wheels, The Saint Joseph Indian School and The Red Cross in Africa.
She will be remembered by her family and friends as an optimistic person who loved her husband and children with all her heart to her last day. Florence enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time in and around the ocean and travelling.
Florence is survived by her four children, Carole, Tom, Allen and John, as well as 9 grandchildren. Her burial service was held at the family plot at Redlands Hillside Memorial Park in California on Monday, December 23rd 2013. The grief of her passing is assuaged by the fact that she is now beside her husband of 67 years.
