
After a brief illness and surrounded by her entire family and a multitude of friends, Socorro (Cora) Jimenez (87) passed away at her home on Thursday, February 21, 2013.
Cora was born in Santa Barbara on March 22, 1925. She devoted her entire life to her children and her parents but also pursued a long and cherished career with the Children’s Centers of the Santa Barbara School District.
Cora is survived by her children Raul, Yolanda, Rebecca, and Richard (Ricardo), her daughter-in-law, Maria, grandsons, John Robert and Marco, and her sister, Lupe Leon, along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by countless friends whose lifetime friendships sustained her for many years. Tina Valencia and Maxine Vallincourt along with dear friends from work Lois, Barbara, and Francois just to name a few. A special thank you to Elizabeth Ybarra, her caretaker and special friend.
A mass, celebrating Cora’s life, is scheduled at 10am Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Our Lady of Sorrows, 21 E. Sola Street, Santa Barbara, Ca. followed by an internment at Calvary Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara for all their assistance.
