
Andrew died on December 25, 2013 at the age of 81. He was born in San Luis Obispo, California on August 3, 1932 to parents Andrew R Joughin and Eloise Dicken Joughin, now deceased. Andrew had four older sisters. He attended local schools and graduated from SLO High school and Cal Poly. His father was a rancher in SLO and raised registered Here ford sand Commercial cow sand calves. Weekdays were spent at their town home for school and then weekends with their Dad on the ranch.
The ranch in SLO was sold and they purchased the former Dabney Ranch in Santa Ynez and moved to the valley in 1950. After the death of his father in 1989 the ranch was sold and he retired for a year. Missing farming he started working in vineyard management. Andrew was vineyard manager on Lafond Winery for 20 years, also starting a small vineyard of his own. He retired again in 2010 at the age of 78.
Andrew served in the army in 1955 and was stationed in Lompoc at what used to be called Camp Cooke. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones and friends.
Andrew is survived by his wife Jacqueline Reynolds Joughin who he married in 1954. They shared a life of love for 59 years. He is also survived by his daughter Jennifer Hobbs, son Andrew R. Joughin, five grandsons; Bret (Ashley) Hobbs, Cole Hobbs, Andrew P. Joughin, Jentery Joughin, and Parker Joughin, son-in-law Chris Vaile, sister Helen Sweat and fifteen nieces and nephews and their families. Andrew was preceded in death by his daughter Janeen Joughin, sisters and brothers-in-law Joanna and Don Hanly, Jayne and Jim Ellis, sister Evelyn Joughin, brother-in-law Bill Sweatt and brother and sister-in-law Bob and Jean Reynolds.
Services will be held graveside at Oak Hill Cemetery on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 10:00am. Reception will follow. Donations may be made in his name to Solvang Friendship House. Loper Funeral Chapel, Directors.
