Goleta A sheriff’s K-9 unit apprehended a stalking suspect Saturday evening, authorities said.
The arrest came after deputies responded to a report of stalking in the area of Camino de Vida and Turnpike Road, according to a Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department news release.
The suspect was identified as Carlos Medina, 50, of Santa Barbara. Deputies saw Mr. Medina driving in area and attempted a traffic stop. Mr. Medina sped off through a nearby residential area in an attempt to evade law enforcement, according the news release.
The suspect eventually parked his vehicle near the intersection of Calle Morella and Gwyne Avenue and fled on foot. Deputies found him hiding behind a parked vehicle. A K-9 unit was deployed when he became uncooperative.
Mr. Medina was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, then booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of stalking, resisting peace officers, possession of methamphetamine and recklessly evading of a peace officer.
He is being held on $150,000 bail.
