
Left her earthly body on February 20, 2013. She was a resident of Lompoc, California for the past 3 years.
Lorraine was born on August 8, 1944, the third of seven children of Irene and John LaFargue. She attended grade schools in Devine and San Antonio, Texas and Brawley, California. She graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1962 and went onto UC Santa Barbara. She decided to stay in this area and moved up to the Santa Ynez Valley where she worked for many years for Jack Algeo at his Research Farm. Later she worked for the County of SB and Devereux School in Santa Barbara.
Lorraine was a beautiful and spirited woman with a sparkly smile and great laugh. She was an amazing cook and had many gatherings for friends and family in her home in Ballard. She loved gardening and entertaining. Her cooking reflected her generous spirit and love she had for others.
She is survived by her daughter, Maggi (Kelly) Greeley of Buellton, CA her son, John Paul (Heather) LaFargue of Eureka, CA and Grandchildren Cory, Kelley and Skyler. In addition , she is survived by her brothers and sisters Michael (Hilda) LaFargue of Newburyport, MA, Gabrielle (Sam) LaFargue of Sierra Vista, AZ, Cindy (Ken) Morris of Gilbert, AZ, Denise LaFargue of Novato, CA, John W. (Betsy) LaFargue of Mill Valley, CA and Gerry LaFargue of El Cajon, CA and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
A Special thanks to her good friends, Art and Sherry Hibbits and Lori Hernandez who helped her in so many ways and enabled her to stay in her own home. A Celebration of Life will be held later this Spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to: Devereux California, PO Box 6784 SB, CA 93160.
