
Kenneth Alan Lane, 76, of Lynchburg died Saturday, June 15, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Gail Lane.
Kenneth was born July 9, 1936 in Montebello, CA, the son of the late Clarence Lane and the late Olive Frances Lane. Kenneth enjoyed sports in his youth and was a member of the Lettermen’s Club for Athletics at Columbia School of El Monte. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the 82nd Airborne Division and then became a successful business owner of Reliable Janitorial Supplies, Inc. in Santa Barbara, CA. Kenneth had many interests that included hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church. The most important and cherished aspects of Kenneth’s life was the devotion to his faith, his family, and his country.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael Steven Lane of Eugene, OR, a daughter, Debra Ruth Olsen of Klamath California, a stepdaughter, Rosemary Elizabeth Heusted of Lynchburg, a stepson, Jon Howell Shumaker and his wife Lynette of Santa Maria, CA, a brother Don Lane of Idaho, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, two brothers Robert and Douglas Lane and a sister Shirley Gettler.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday June 20, 2013 at Spring Hill Cemetery. A Memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Court Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church where family will receive friends.
Memorials may be made in Kenneth’s memory to Court Street United Methodist Church.
